Thousand Islands Secondary School cross-country runners hardy knew what to do with themselves after the last bell on Thursday: for the first time in more than two months, the team did not hit the training field.

The break in training was the next-to-last step in a tapering plan set out prior to the all- Ontario cross-country championships in Etobicoke on Saturday.
