Glebe's Sikubwabo caps cross-country season with OFSAA gold medal

Yves Sikubwabo represents Glebe Collegiate Institute when he runs, but he hopes one day to wear the Maple Leaf and represent Canada.
Following a National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association cross-country title last weekend, Sikubwabo successfully defended his Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations crosscountry title Saturday at the Hornet's Nest in Gloucester, winning the senior boys' title and setting a course record in the process with his time of 22 minutes 25.9 seconds.
Sikubwabo recently immigrated from Rwanda, the country he represented at the 2010 World Junior Track and Field Championship in Moncton, N.B., where he finished 12th in the 1,500-metre. After completing this past crosscountry season undefeated in eight races, he's looking toward a university career next year and then hopefully competing at a national level.
